Paddle the scenic lower section below the Six Nations Territory, discovering the historic Steamboat Alley. Our all-inclusive package ensures a hassle-free adventure, with prices that include taxes! Location and Itinerary: Start your journey at Kinsman Park in the charming old town of Cayuga (61 Ouse St S. Cayuga). From there, we'll shuttle you upstream to the picturesque steamship village of York. After a brief map talk and outfitting session, you'll paddle downstream back to your vehicle—no waiting for return pick-up! Facilities and Amenities: Enjoy the convenience of washrooms and picnic tables at both the start and end of your trip. Need a snack? The York Country Store is just across the road, offering a variety of refreshments. The River Experience: The 10km paddle from York to Cayuga is perfect for all skill levels. The route features easy swifts, calm waters, and shallow areas where non-swimmers can comfortably stand. The river's stone-clay bottom makes it advisable to wear protective footwear. Keep an eye out for wildlife, including Bald Eagles, Blue Herons, turtles, and more. Plus, no mosquitos! Special Features: -Swimming Spots: Take a break and cool off in the river's clear waters. The depth ranges from 1-2 meters, making it easy to find safe swimming spots. -Historical Sights: Along the route, you'll pass by the famous Ruthven Mansion, a historic landmark owned by one of the River Barons. Additional Information: -Duration: Kayak, canoe, and SUP trips typically take 2.5 to 3 hours at a leisurely pace. Tubing can take around 3.5 hours. -Age & Weight Restrictions: Recommended for ages 4 and up. Weight limit: 270 lbs. Booking and Hours: Advance reservations are required due to limited capacity. We operate from June 1 to September 22, 2024, with varying hours for spring, summer, and fall. Spring Hours: June 1 to June 16: 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm Summer Hours: June 22 to September 2: 9:30am, 10:15am, 11am, 11:45am, 12:30pm, 1:15pm, 2pm Fall Hours: September 7 to September 22: 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm

Rental rules & details

What To Bring -Good sunscreen, hat, sun glasses, retainer string for eye glasses, water & snacks, gloves if hands blister easily, lip balm. -Bring footwear you don’t mind getting wet… the river bottom is rocky. -If you burn easy… long sleeves and pants… otherwise swim suits or clothes that dry quickly. ---Denim jeans are not a good idea… they stay wet forever! -If cooler weather… dress in layers so you can strip down as you get hot. -Due to health protocols we are not supplying dry bags… so please bring zip-lock bags or bags capable of keeping car keys, cell phones and personals dry -We have water refill station for bring-your-own-water bottle. No Alcohol Allowed Please remember that no alcoholic beverages are allowed on the river… it is Federal Law and can result in OPP charges. Grand River Rafting reserves the rights to inspect all bags and coolers being brought on trips. If alcoholic beverages are found, you will be asked to kindly return the beverages to your vehicle. If someone refuses inspection or refuses to leave alcoholic beverages behind, they will not be allowed to go on the river… and there will be no refund. Check Our Weather Alert Before Coming! The weather apps can be so generic that they are almost useless… especially forecasts that are more then 48 hours out. It is important to remember, that the weather on the Grand River… can be totally different from where you are living. We are good at weather… because we want you to enjoy your trip… not endure it!
