We start the day with a direct pickup from downtown Vancouver and drive to the ferry terminal in Tsawwassen. The ferry trip provides a relaxed start to the morning with spectacular views of the Salish Sea & Gulf Islands and an opportunity for wildlife sightings. We cross the Straight of Georgia and arrive at Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island where we begin our cycle along the Lochside Trail. We pedal along the trail through the Saanich Peninsula enjoying the stunning sights this coastline has to offer. Breathe in the fresh sea air before we head inland where we stop for lunch at a local "farm to table" cafe, serving fresh ingredients from the surrounding farmland. After lunch we make our way to Elk​/​Beaver Lake Regional Park, where we cycle around the lake appreciating the pristine nature and tranquility en route to De Vine Vineyard. The final push up the hill into the winery is deservedly rewarded with a refreshing taste of the crisp and opulent wines this region offers. One can sit back, relax and take in the magnificent views over the Saanich Peninsula and beyond. Following the wine tasting we make our way back to the ferry terminal along quiet country roads and trails. At Swartz Bay we board the ferry and make our voyage back to Vancouver. The Saanich Peninsula is one of Vancouver Island's hidden gems. It is defined by its rolling hills, lush farmland & countryside and rugged coastline. This bike tour gives the rider a unique experience of Vancouver Island as we ride through a variety of terrains, ranging from a quiet seaside town to a marvellous regional park. One can expect to cycle approximately 55km (34 miles) on professionally maintained trails and quiet country roads. The riding is 95% flat with three short climbs of approximately one to two minutes. The route can be made longer or shorter depending upon the desires of the group. The duration of the tour is approximately 12 hours depending upon the speed of the group and route taken. The trip is suitable for adventurous people of all ages, with a moderate level of fitness.
