Rental rules & details

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants, please adhere to the following rules and regulations when renting a Sit On Top Kayak from Liftlock Paddle Co: Age Requirement: -Renters must be at least 18 years old and present a valid ID at the time of rental. -Minors (under 18) must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Reservation and Check-In: -Please arrive at the Beavermead Park boat launch (north end of the parking lot) 15 minutes before your reserved time for check-in and equipment fitting. Safety Gear: -Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) are provided and must be worn at all times while on the water. -All paddling equipment, including paddles and safety whistles, will be provided and must be used appropriately. Weather Conditions: -Kayaking is not permitted during severe weather conditions, including strong winds, thunderstorms, or heavy rain. -Liftlock Paddle Co reserves the right to cancel or reschedule rentals due to unsafe weather conditions. Kayak Usage: -Kayaks are to be used only in the designated areas, including the Trent-Severn Liftlocks, Beavermead Park beach, and surrounding waterways. -Do not venture into restricted areas or out of sight of the launch point. -Standing in the kayak is not allowed; remain seated for your safety. Family and Pet Guidelines: -Toddlers and young children are allowed to ride with their parents for free. Please ensure that children wear the provided PFDs at all times. -Pets are welcome! However, please ensure they are comfortable and safe in the kayak. Pets must also wear a PFD, which we can provide if needed. Damage and Liability: -Renters are responsible for the kayak and all equipment during the rental period. -Any damage or loss of equipment will result in additional charges based on the cost of repair or replacement. -Liftlock Paddle Co is not liable for any injuries, accidents, or loss of personal belongings during the rental period. Cancellation Policy: -Cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance will receive a full refund. -Cancellations made within 24 hours of the rental time are non-refundable. Alcohol and Substance Use: -The consumption of alcohol or any illegal substances is strictly prohibited while using the rental kayak. -Renters found under the influence will have their rental terminated without a refund and may face legal action. Respect for Nature: -Please respect the environment. Do not litter, and avoid disturbing wildlife. -Follow Leave No Trace principles while on the water. End of Rental Procedure: -Return to the Beavermead Park boat launch at the agreed-upon time. A staff member will meet you to collect the kayak and equipment. -Late returns will incur an additional charge of $15 per hour. -By renting a kayak, you agree to abide by these rules and regulations. Failure to comply may result in the termination of your rental without a refund.
